Fayose had claimed that the rumour of the abduction of the Chibok girls was mere political fabrication meant to oust former president Goodluck Jonathan from the office at all costs. Vanguard reports that Alhaji Kyari Idris Abubakar, the president of NEYPDI, commended the military over the rescue of Amina Ali, one of the missing Chibok girls. Abubakar criticized the governor for playing politics with human lives and described Fayose’s antics as diversionary. “We are disturbed at the manner Fayose who is supposed to know better has dignified politics against human lives.” “We appealed to Nigerians not to take Fayose serious because his action and comments were not in conformity with the reality of things,” he said. Abubakar advised Fayose to provide quality leadership to the people of Ekiti state, instead of making statements that mislead Nigerians.
