How I am Celebrating International Day of the Girl

Dear Friend,

Many of us know that millions of girls are denied access to education. Yet, rarely do we hear from girls themselves about what it’s like to confront and overcome the challenges that keep them out of school.

We Will Rise: Michelle Obama’s Mission to Educate Girls Around the World is a CNN Films documentary that helps us do exactly that.

Through the film - which premieres today - you can meet young women like Fouzya, who went on a hunger strike when her parents told her she could no longer attend school, and Hanane, the youngest girl in her family but the first to learn to read and write.   

We’ve created a viewing guide to make it easy for you to learn more and take action.

These girls inspired me to think about my own education, and how I can get more deeply involved in changing the world for girls.  I hope it does the same for you.
