KRPC to produce 2m litres of petrol daily —MD read more

The Managing Director of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), Idi Muktar, has said that the company will be producing two million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily tomorrow, for
onward distribution.
The new KRPC boss disclosed this while receiving the executive members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Council, who paid him a courtesy visit.
He lamented that frequent vandalisation of pipelines is one of the greatest challenges militating against smooth running of refineries in the country.
According to him, Nigerians need to be educated on how to safeguard pipelines for continuous supply of crude oil to the plant.
“Without the pipelines, there is no way crude can come to the plant.”
He, however said, “Starting from Friday, we are going to distribute 2 million litres of PMS and that is the only evidence that everyone wants to see that KRPC is re-streamed.
The MD blamed some bad elements in the society for the fuel scarcity, adding that “from March to April, we witnessed 13 infractions with the pipelines from Abuja to Kaduna. We are losing petrol due to activities of unpatriotic elements tampering with pipelines which is unfortunate.”
He stated further that very visible efforts have been put in place to ensure constant supply of crude to the three plants in Kaduna, to help reduce the hardship Nigerians are facing due to fuel scarcity in the state.
“Once we have crude oil, we will produce and distribute two million litres of the product every other day and that is efficient enough to restore consumer confidence and reduce the queues.”
As long as we keep doing that, there will be no scarcity again and this will help reduce the hardship the citizens are facing due to fuel scarcity in the state.”
The MD pointed out that it is very difficult to police every articulated vehicle carrying the product across the country and called for collaboration with the public saying “We are the ones involved in the distribution, we are the ones involved in the diversion and yet we are the same people crying for scarcity.”
He described the situation as unfortunate saying.
“We are shooting ourselves in the feet because at this moment, there is enough supply of the product and that is why the minister has ordered that every tanker should have a tracking device to see where the fuel is taken and dispensed.”
The NUJ Chairman, Comrade Garba Muhammad, commended the company for its support in the past and called for more collaboration between the company and the media.
